The Sisterhood of St. Juliana Lazarevo, the Merciful
The Sisterhood of Saint Juliana of Saint Elia Orthodox is "dedicated to the
Holy Orthodox Church to the glorification of God, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit."
The Sisterhood of Saint Juliana held its first organizational meeting on Wednesday evening, November
16, 1983. Officers were elected at the December meeting of 1983. By June of 1984, the By-Laws of the Sisterhood were written
and approved at the August 15, 1984 meeting, at which time the Patron Saint of Juliana the Merciful was chosen. As there are no dues for membership, all the women of the Parish are considered members of the Sisterhood.
The ladies of the Sisterhood opened "Baba's Kitchen" on Tuesday
October 9, 1984, serving up delicious luncheons to the public in the Church Hall. The luncheons continued on a weekly basis
until 1994. The Sisterhood published their first cookbook, "Baba's Best", in October 1984. Their second edition,
"Baba's Best II", became available in August 1991.
The
Sisterhood is ever ready for the various functions throughout the year hosting the Greater Akron community at the Lenten Mission
Vespers, Combined Presanctified Liturgy, Christmas Concert, helping the Church School Staff with the St. Nicholas Day celebrations,
and providing a Pascha breakfast and St. Elia Name Day festivities.
